We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless, Bell’s Autonomous Pod Transport (APT), and Bell’s High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold tilt-rotor.
Airworthiness Engineering
The Airworthiness Engineer is responsible for establishing and managing compliance with joint Bell-USG aircraft airworthiness requirements on military programs. This role requires excellent communication, and coordination skills to meet program objectives. Airworthiness engineers are responsible for organizing, planning, conducting and successfully completing military airworthiness certification/qualification objectives throughout the lifecycle of the product.
What you’ll be doing as an Airworthiness Engineer:
Plan and accomplish highly complex and challenging projects across multiple aircraft systems, disciplines, and program phases.
Build professional relationships with the military program team (customer) and the military airworthiness authority through direct interaction on significant technical matters which often require coordination between internal and external organizations.
Evaluate standard qualification rules and guidance material to assist Integrated Product Teams in developing the Qualification/Certification Basis, Means of Compliance, Subsystem/System Level Airworthiness Qualification Specifications, and other qualification/certification activities.
Manage and maintain military qualification/certification airworthiness artifacts and deliver airworthiness contract deliverables in accordance with program requirements throughout the product life cycle.
Mentor, coach, and act as a role model to less knowledgeable or less experienced engineers.
From an airworthiness perspective, facilitate meetings and provide required briefings and/or technical presentations to manufacturers, professional organizations, customers, and airworthiness agencies.
Skills You Bring To this Role:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other Integrated Product Teams to complete design, analysis, and program tasks.
Ability to prioritize work, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a team player mindset.
Military airworthiness qualification/certification and/or flight/component test experience is preferred. Civil certification experience is acceptable.
Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint is preferred.
What you need to be successful:
We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Aeronautical Science is required.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in military airworthiness qualification programs or civil certification programs. Multiple years of experience will be considered.
Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.
Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
